You need to complete a 4 year apprenticeship where you will learn the trade on the job and also get paid for. Along with this training, you also need to complete a certificate course to become an electrician in Australia.

It takes a minimum of four years of education and apprenticeship to qualify as an electrician in Australia. 

As the first step, you should get your Electrical skills assessment and Offshore Technical Skills Record (OTSR). With OTSR, you can apply for a provisional licence in the state/territory you wish to work in.
